Quantum Mechanics: An Introduction

Image
Quantum mechanics is a basic division of physics concerning the direct physical interactions of particles with such size scales as atoms and subatomic particles, as well as quanta like photons.  Uniquely, it poses a conflict with the traditional model of the physical environment through constructs such as wave-particle duality, quantization, and the uncertainty principle. Key Concepts in Quantum Mechanics: #1 Wave-Particle Duality: Physics tells us that electrons and photons simultaneously act like particles or waves.  For example light is a wave when it comes to interferences and diffractions and is a particle (accumulated energy in the form of photons). #2 Quantization of Energy: Energy is not smooth and unbroken but is divided into individual parcels known as quanta.  For instance, electrons in an atom can only exist in certain energy states, and can change states only through the uptake or release of fixed quantities of energy quanta (photons). #3 Uncertainty Principle: This princi
