Khabib Nurmagomedov is a retired Russian mixed martial artist, widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history.

He was born on September 20, 1988, in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia. 

Khabib is best known for his undefeated record in professional MMA, having won all 29 of his fights.

He competed in the lightweight division of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and held the UFC Lightweight Championship from April 2018 until his retirement in October 2020. 

Khabib's fighting style is heavily based on grappling and wrestling, which he honed from a young age under the tutelage of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who was a renowned coach.

Khabib's most notable victories include wins over Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. 

His fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 229 was one of the most anticipated and highest-grossing events in UFC history.

After his father's passing in 2020, Khabib decided to retire from MMA, citing a promise he made to his mother.

Khabib made his professional MMA debut in September 2008 and quickly amassed an undefeated record in regional promotions in Russia and Ukraine.

He signed with the UFC in late 2011 and made his debut in January 2012, defeating Kamal Shalorus. 

His dominant grappling and relentless pressure quickly gained attention in the MMA community.

Khabib's journey to the UFC Lightweight Championship included victories over notable fighters such as Rafael dos Anjos, Michael Johnson, and Edson Barboza. 

His ability to control opponents on the ground and his relentless pace made him a formidable competitor.

Khabib won the UFC Lightweight Championship on April 7, 2018, by defeating Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. 

He successfully defended his title three times against Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. 

Khabib retired with an undefeated record of 29-0, a remarkable achievement in the sport of MMA. 

His dominance in the lightweight division and his unparalleled grappling skills have cemented his legacy as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history.
